The Picture of Dorian Gray
This book by Oscar Wilde gives quite an in depth look at human nature. It lets you wrestle with the issue of good and evil and how a person can be so self involved that they become something other than human. Dorian Gray is a classic tale of immortality, supernatural elements, and effects of evil desires. I personally liked the book, but I'm sure it's not for everyone. The writing is sometimes difficult and it goes into deep detail that doesn't always seem necessary. The best part is to see how this painting completely changes a man. He becomes obsessed with riches, and a hedonistic lifestyle. I believe he is look for a way to fill the emptiness in his soul, but there is no way to fill it because of his deal. His soul for immortality.
